"Star Stealing Girl"

Video game music is impossible to judge. They are all the same, except for the instruments. So I'll only judge you on what I can, for the other rules don't apply.

Clarity: 9. Good work, but no ones perfect.

Overall: 7. The piece os nice, but you added no new riffs yourself, or anything to that extent. I can understand a cover, but that changes the genre entirely. If you tried that instead, then I'd be impressed.

Realmguys responds:

Thanks for the fair review ZENON. I will agree entirely with your review. However, this particular piece was intended to duplicate the original, as was Chronomut's version. Part 2, 3, and 4 of our contest will have variation and improv riffs involved.
Thanks again Z, it's always nice to hear from you.

"Bezerker"

Its impossible to come up with something new in the DnB genre, so lets see what you pull outta your ass.

Originality sits on the fence at 5. The only things that made this song original is the serious glitch work and some of the psycadelic synths you used. The amen breaks and all that were compeltely untouched, and right now, I'm almost thinking of lowering that score to 4...

Diversity is an 8, what can I say? Its a diverse piece but the bass is very repetitive. The drums though? Weren't.

Clarity is a 9, cause its a clear piece. But no ones perfect, so you get 9.

Effort is an 8 becuase of the drums. Thats it. If you spent the time to make diverse drums, I would seriously welcome this to the 9 or 10 mark in effort.

Overall, 8. Its a good DnB piece, but nothing new other than glitch.

Woah, what a stickler!

Thanks for the review.

"Ice Temple"

Why hello there General_Leo.

The song starts rather nice, and continues to a great drums and bass groove. I do enjoy the work you put into the drums and the bass, but the piano is repetitive.

Originality is a 6, because this type of music has been done many times before, no matter how nice it sounds. The funky bass and drums add a bit of originaloity to it, though.

Diversity is an 8. You would have been able to squeeze a 9 outta me if you had an alternating piano line.

Clarity is a 9, because no ones perfect :) I'm gonna give no 10s to anyone, sorry :P

Effort 9. The piano. 'Nuff said.

Overall: 7. You did a good job on this one, and it was better than average. Good work.

LoneEagle responds:

Thanks for the nice and clean review Zeenon.

As for originality, this type of song has been done before... i know. I made plenty of tracks in that style before :D I just want to add that pretty much everything has been done before and it would be pretty hard to come up with something 100% original and never heard before.

Diversity, i know i could have done more with the piano pattern. If not by changing it then maybe by adding more intruments to it or something to keep more diversified.

Thanks again, i'm expecting something similar from the other 2 judges...

Lol, I had to DL to hear it.

So you just got another download XD

Very nice beginning, it follows its genre very well. But the song is... TOO well compressed. I can't hear the things that I'd like to ehar, you know? Sure the kick is present, but the midranges and the bass are brought out too much, that I can't hear the crispness of the song.

Good work though, just work on mastering more and make more steady melodies! Slow and rythymic is better than crazy and melodic. Trust me.

Keep it up!

KaiSun responds:

That downloading thing has happened to two of my songs now, dont know why. Thanks for listening anyways. with the compression thing i think too much reverb overall and distortion on the hats may be the problem, but Im not sure what you want to hear but cant. maybe its not there. cheers anyway

Hahaha

I see that XwaynecoltX is trying to be the top reviewer in audio too :)

Anywho, this song is very professionally put together. It has hardstyle written all over it, but since you already know what you are doing, you should scratch what you are doign and start something new.

There are millions of hardstyle producers, and I don't want someone with your style and skill to just become another cliche hardstyle producer.

Take some time off of music, listen to some different bands, and write hardstyle, but with other genres incorporated, even if that means collabing with other artists.

Ever thought what heavymetal guitars and no bass drum work sounded like with hardstyle music? Celctic music with hardstyle? Classical music with hardstyle? The choice is yours, be unique.

And always remember: The song is your bitch. Make it do what YOU want. Make it perfect >:)

Keep it up!

You are a great artist and I highly appreciate the review. And your idea is great. And the first thing I should do is probably collab. You also seem to know waht you're doing, so why dont WE collab? lol. PM me if you're possible interested :D

Loops are nice to review.

Then I don't ahve to write such long reviews :P

The seemed to have a nice buildup with the hats, but remember tat if its a loop, it needs to feel like a loop, not a repeptitive build up and down. Add some drums, some basslines, make this little melody worth it to listen to!

Good work, keep it up!

-zenon

Liquid-86 responds:

Thanks. I guess your right about the build up, every time i lietn to it I feel that a drum rool is about to happen but it never does. Thanks again.

Hm?

I have made songs that are 4:30 long + and they fit in the audio portal easily at the 3,500 K mark. Tone down the quality a bit, sparky!

The chords in the beginning are very nice and enjoyable. The only thing that bugs me is the fact that you chose such a dity synth... I was expecting something a little softer for such nice chords?

When the kick got brougt in, it was a very nice feel, but the song was distorting.

Watch the volume meter... make sure it doesn't touch the red line mark very much! If it does, then turn sime instruments! Also, if something sounds too lod, turn it down. Don't listen to the monitor on that one XD

Good work, very nice relaxing piece of trance.

jesuswalks9 responds:

Thanks for your honest opinion i will most def take your advice next time.

Nice!

The song has a great eurotrance feel to it, and even though I have a feeling that this is a simple remix, it sounds nice. Since I have never heard the original, I cannot really coment :P

Good work, keep it up! It sounds pretty nice :)

-zenon

D-A-J responds:

Heh ok... Well, since this is a "clean" remix, i haven't changed anything on the melody, just instruments... ;)

Hardcore kicks FTW.

In the beginning, with the kic, that was the perfect setup for something that is sick and nasty. Or tasty. However you look at it :P

I think that a saw wave bassline would add a very nice feel to the whole 'dance' feel. The whiney melody that you had oing got very annoying very fast. Maybe if you changed the lead earlier on, then that would have added to the diversity and the overall enjoyableness of the track.

Good work, keep it up!

-zenon

Yytrium responds:

Thanks for this review. I'm considering a dance remix... ;-)

First thing that came to my mind is

Final Fantasy. Maybe you sampled something similar to it or something, I dunno.

The drums are very phat, and the only thing that needs to be there to make this song more full and groovy is a phat since wave bassline. Try adding that in your next song :)

Good work, keep it up!

-zenon

The-Shat-Man responds:

Many thanks for the review... im glad you like it. I suppose it does sound like a final fantasy though I didnt sample from any of them. Its pretty much all from the free samples at loop masters dot com or something like that. Also, I agree with adding a bassline. Thanks again. =)
